What: Stephen Colbert’s March to Keep Fear Alive & Jon Stewart’s Rally to Restore Sanity
When: 10.30.10
Where: Washington, D.C.
Why: America, we are at a crossroad. Truthiness in this nation is at an all-time low since the inception of the concept was founded by the great American, Stephen Colbert. In its rich history over the past five years, Truthiness has become synonymous with American values such as freedom, honor, and Taco Bell. Recently our nation has suffered a truthiness drain. In fact, untruthiness is as common as measles vaccinations that cause cancer. We as a nation have stopped relying on our emotions and gut. We need to get back to what makes this nation great. Act on impulse not fact. Stop wasting time analyzing and just take what people say on face value. Why think when someone else can think for you. It’s superficial. It’s quick. It’s American. Restore Truthiness now!
Restoring Truthiness is a true grassroots movement propelled by YOU, the citizens of the internetz. Our goal is simple: Petition Stephen Colbert to hold a Restoring Truthiness Rally for the American people.

Reddit: I’ve had a vision and I can’t shake it…
Truthiness (n.): a “truth” that a person claims to know intuitively “from the gut” without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts.
Stephen Colbert, a Comedy Central TV personality, introduced the term, “truthiness” on his show The Colbert Report, a show that parodies the extreme, outspoken, self-promoting, political pundits on channels like Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN. His show pokes fun at the absurdity of the mainstream news media.
The “Restoring Truthiness” movement is a grassroots effort started by random strangers on the internet. It began as a post on the news site reddit.com. ColbertRally.com and a Facebook group sprouted up soon after, growing into a full-blown movement to convince Stephen Colbert to lead a ‘Restoring Truthiness’ Rally.
The movement is loosely a parody of conservative news commentator Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally, a self-proclaimed “apolitical” rally to “restore honor in America”.
Although many supporters of “Restoring Truthiness” view the movement as “progressive”, “left-wing”, and “anti-Glenn Beck”, that is not the sentiment behind the movement. Besides the satirically ambiguous goal of “Restoring Truthiness”, the only tangible goals of the movement are to convince Colbert to lead a rally and to raise money for charities such as DonorsChoose.org – a non-profit donation site that directly supports teachers and classrooms across America.
On Sept. 16, 2010 both Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert announced that they will be holding rallies: Rally to Restore Sanity and March to Keep Fear Alive
